Lee Porter (1983) See Tribute
Lee was a neighbour and a classmate from elementary school through to our graduation from Western. She was a talented artist and musician and managed to accomplish a lot by the age of 25 when her life ended in a bizarre accident. In grade 6, we both planned to play a piano piece at our elementary school talent show, and then we found out that both Lee and I planned to play the same song, being "Get Back" by the Beatles which had just come out that year. We flipped a coin to see who got to play it, and I fortunately won, because I didn't have anything else in my repertoire other than stuff by Bach or Mozart, which didn't have the same vibe. So I played Get Back, and Lee played "Bridge over Troubled Water" and she did a decent job of it, given that she had to learn it in about a week. Lee's grandchild has graduated from High School within the last few years.
