I met Craig in Grade 7, at Sunalta School. We were good friends from then on.

We went to Western Canada High School together. Then Craig attended university in Windsor Ontario, studying Geology. I attended Carleton University in Ottawa, and we spent many hours driving back and forth between Calgary and Toronto.

Craig became a well site geologist and spent his professional life analyzing samples at remote wells. He enjoyed the work (aside from the time away from home). It suited his meticulous temperament.

We skied together, and both became volunteer ski patrollers. Craig's other hobbies included riding motorcycles, video games, golf, playing guitar and listening to blues music in various Calgary venues.

Craig and his wife Paula had two daughters: Rebecca and Sarah. Craig loved his family deeply -- he was devoted to them. The family lived in Airdrie, Alberta.

He was also a treasured member of his extended family -- who were numerous. Christmas was celebrated at the Calgary Japanese Community Association hall; more than 100 of his family typically attended.

Craig passed away far too soon in 2012; he suffered a cardiac arrest on his way to work on a remote well site.

He is greatly missed by all that knew him.
